New SAS Professional Award

Applications are no longer being accepted for 2019 New SAS Professional Awards, please check back next spring for information about our 2020 program.

Have you been employed using SAS  in a job for three years or less?  If so, then you may be eligible for the New SAS Professional Award program. 


Complimentary conference registration

Award winners receive complimentary registration gaining them access to all non-extra-fee events including over 150 scientific and technical presentations, vendor and exhibitor displays, as well as networking events.

One complimentary half-day class

Half-day classes are offered on Wednesday morning immediately before the conference, and Friday afternoon after the conference.  Classes are offered on a variety of topics related to SAS.  Information about classes and instructors will be posted as it becomes available.

Networking breakfast

Award winners are invited to a special breakfast with representatives from SAS Institute, as well as WUSS organizers, book authors, and other leading SAS-user professionals from varied disciplines and industries.


Eligibility basics

Applicants must have been employed in a job using SAS for three years or less at the start of the conference. Applicants must be employed in the Western Users of SAS Software region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming).

Applicants may receive the award a maximum of two years. To be eligible for the second year, applicants must submit an abstract and be selected to present a paper or poster. 

Any professional who meets the eligibility requirements is encouraged to apply.

Proof of employment

Applicants must provide proof of employment using SAS in the Western Users of SAS Software region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming).

Volunteer requirement

Applicants must be willing to volunteer as a session or class coordinator at a pre- or post-conference class, or during in-conference presentations.  This is a four-hour commitment.

How to apply

Second-time applicants must submit an abstract for a paper or poster no later than May 8, 2019.  Please see information for presenters, and submit your abstract online.

Applications and accompanying verification documents for all applicants must be submitted no later than May 6, 2019.  Apply online here.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
